Stevie Nicks Reveals ‘Tusk’ Actually About Wanting to Beat Lindsey Buckingham to Death With Sharp, Phallic Object

November 7, 2026

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Decades after the release of the Fleetwood Mac album “Tusk,” Stevie Nicks revealed that the song of the same name is, in fact, about wanting to beat Lindsey Buckingham to death with a sharp, phallic object, confirmed sources who had an inkling that might be the case.

“I mean, who doesn’t want to air their grievances and commit acts of sensational violence against their bandmates through the use of song?” shared Nicks while physically demonstrating exactly how she would perform such action. “The story that kept circulating back then was that Lindsey wanted to name the song something phallic and that I threatened to quit over it. I guess that story made him feel better about the reality of the situation, which was that I threatened to murder him with a razor-sharp penile-like spike and we got inspired and wrote the song instead. I still wonder whether I shouldn’t have just killed him. Good song, though.”

Reactions from Fleetwood Mac fans rolled in after the rocker’s announcement.

“I buy it,” said mega fan Rosemarie Pelsinger. “I mean, who wouldn’t want to do that to your ex-lover/band mate? We’ve all been there. I once hit my eighth grade boyfriend in the head with a recorder. I said it was an accident at the time and everyone believed me. Sorry, Billy. Plus, we’ve all seen the video of Stevie Nicks staring daggers at Lindsey Buckingham during a live performance of ‘Silver Springs.’ I’m honestly kind of surprised they’re among the surviving band members. I’m pretty sure I made a bet they would kill each other at some point in the ‘90s.”

Diane Klein, notable Rock for Aging Witches music critic, shared her thoughts on the bombshell.

“I’ve been following Fleetwood Mac for longer than I’d like to say, and let me tell you, this is less of a bombshell and more of a ‘no fucking shit,’” said Klein. “Witches need to get their power from somewhere, and for many that comes from a deep hatred of men in general or sometimes just one very punchable man in particular. I’ve always had a feeling this was the case with this song. Despite the writing credit for ‘Tusk’ going to Buckingham, I picked up on the intense female rage that comes through with lyrics such as ‘tusk, tusk, tusk.’”

At press time, Nicks also revealed that “Rhiannon” was actually inspired by a woman named Mudflap Rhonda but said that it didn’t quite roll off the tongue and so the change was made.
